Costcodle scores and sharing

Searchers ask what the average Costcodle score is. I checked the stats overlay and the userStats object in main.js on 2026-09-30. There is no server, no account, and no published average. Anyone quoting a worldwide mean is guessing.
What your browser stores
The stats panel shows four numbers plus a distribution: games played, win percent, current streak, and max streak. The distribution counts how often you finished in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 guesses. Those values live in localStorage under the key stats. A second key, state, remembers the current day's guesses. Clearing site data resets both.
How a score is written
A finished round is a fraction out of 6. Winning on the third guess shares as 3/6. Losing after six guesses shares as X/6. I treat a lower numerator as the better result, the same way Wordle does. The game does not convert that fraction into points.
The share text
copyStats builds a block that starts with Costcodle, the puzzle number, and the fraction. Each guess becomes a line of an arrow or a check plus a red or yellow square. The link at the bottom is costcodle.com. On a phone the same text goes through the Web Share API.
